CrossFit and your Body Image

Eva Claire Synkowski Rowing a sub 7 minute 2K row. I believe she is 6′ tall 185# (I read it somewhere and I think I have it right). She is an incredible athlete. Her God given frame excludes her from having what has been considered the “ideal” female body type. Lets break that down a bit. She is healthy, performs amazingly (check her out doing Man Grace (Again Faster.com) …[wmv][mov]) well and she looks great. I think that our definition of the ideal femal body type may have been a bit skewed. CrossFit and a healthy balanced whole foods diet will help you, overtime, find your healthy body weight where you look feel and perform great. Now your perspective on looking great may need some tweaking before you really get to that happy place. You must realize that it takes muscle to perform well. Not body builder muscle, but functional muscle and this may not always mean that your jeans will be looser. Trust me you will look great just keep your focus on consistently eating balanced whole foods using something like the Zone diet or Paleo diet and hit your WODs hard. Oh yeah and throw your scale away. Below are some excellent write ups about CrossFit and body type. Read them and share how CrossFit has changed your body image in the comments section.

Good articles Jeff….something I need to think about. Thru this last challenge my waist has gotten smaller but with all my leg workouts my butt and legs have not, so I can relate to trying to find clothes that fit.
I have finally recovered from Kelly…
