I think the guy on the right has better form. His grip is a bit wider, his elbows are locked out, and his knees don’t look like they’re coming in a bit. Also, the other guy looks like his weight isn’t over the center of his feet but actually behind him a little.
Mostly I don’t like the back angle on the guy to the left, looks like the weight may be over the center of his foot, but his torso is so upright. I think by doing that he’s taking alot of his back side out of the movement. Please reply to this as I want to hear what you think on it…Thanx!
Great answers guy. I agree with both of you. I think the guy on the left is showing his shoulder inflexibility. He’s way “knee forward” to allow his torso to be very upright because he doesn’t have the flexibility in the shoulders to reach back if his torso was angled forward more. Even in this upright position he is still having trouble locking the arms out due to inflexibility. This position is also putting a lot of the weight on his toes and yes his knees are collapsing in. A few thoughts. Widening his grip might allow him to reach back more easily. Shoulder pass throughs with a pvc might stretch is shoulders out a bit. Lifting shoes would also probably solve this problem. Oly shoes would lift his heels a bit putting his hips under him a bit yet still allowing his heels to have solid contact with the ground. My only gripe with oly shoes is that it cold mask some of his shoulder inflexibility rather than exposing it so we could work on it and the shoes would put his knees forward which can be problematic for some people with knee issues.
The guy on the right shows excellent shoulder flexibility displayed by his ability to reach back even with a fairly angled torso keeping the bar over the middle of his feet with his arms straight. His knees are back as much as possible in an OHS and they are wide over his feet. His heels are clearly in solid contact with the floor.
