The Kitchen Gadgets Part 5 ??: Cast Iron
Once a staple item in the American kitchen, cast iron pans are now making a comeback, and for good reason. They are cheap, indestructible, healthy, heat evenly and nonstick. They are the best cookware out there. No other type of cookware can provide all these benefits. Stainless, while healthy, are sticky and expensive. Nonstick poses serious health risks, gets ruined easily and can be quite expensive. Aluminum will give you Alzheimer’s. Glass is hard to find and sticky. High quality enamel is healthy, but expensive. Lodge brand is my favorite brand of cast iron. You can find most sizes of the Lodge pans at Target or Sears. To give you an idea on price, the smaller 8″ pan pictured above is about $11. Go get ‘em people they are the last pans you will ever buy. We used to replace our Teflon, nonstick pans at the fire station annually until our revolutionary crew convinced everyone to go cast iron. Our health has improved, we are saving money, and our cast iron pans look as beautiful as the day we bought them. If they can pass the firehouse test they will shine like stars at a normal residence!

Today was my first time rx’ing Elizabeth!

Nice work this morning Ben and Adam!
11:28 Rx’d, 2 1/2 minute PR
Wow! I was not expecting to improve that much. Tough, tough wod. Congrats to Casey, Andrea, Brandie and anyone else who completed it Rx’d for the first time today. This is benchmark workout where the Rx alone is huge.
18:07 rx’d (5 minute pr. I’m hoping its the kale and coconut milk I’ve been downing this week)
So hard!!! Congrats to everyone in the class, it was huge!!
I should have known that was not your first Rx. 5 minute PR is huge! Good job! I hope it was not the kale, because I stand a much better chance of taking up coconut milk drinking than kale eating.
I’m definately not eating it because I like the way it tastes…..although chips are much better.
Nice work everyone. Huge PRs and Casey first rx on this one. Sweet!
